The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has extended its ‘ILERA EKO’ grassroots sensitisation advocacy to Kosofe Local Government and environs in a bid to ensure that many residents, particularly at the grassroots, benefit from the health insurance scheme initiated by the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.

Speaking at the event held at the Secretariat, the General Manager of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, said ILERA EKO is a very beneficial scheme and an avenue to reduce pocket payment of medical bills and unforeseen catastrophy. 

She urged residents of Kosofe Local Government to support ILERA EKO and take full advantage of the health plan, adding that residents can enrol on the health plan through the various ILERA EKO District offices in Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe divisions.

Dr. Zamba, represented by the Head, Business Development and Marketing (LASHMA), Mr. Olatunji Rotimi, averred that residents can also enroll at any of ILERA EKO kiosks located all over the State or visit LASHMA website: lashma.com; www.lashma.lagosstate.gov.ng or its Head Office at 17, Kafi Street, Alausa, Ikeja.

The General Manager maintained that ILERA EKO is customer-centric as residents, who have a challenge at their choice hospital, can call LASHMA Customer Service toll free lines 0700-ILERAEKO (0700-45372356) or 0800-ASKLASHMA (0800-275527462) at any time of the day, especially during any unpleasant incident in the hospital.

In her remarks, the Special Adviser, Office of Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, stated that one of the cardinal objectives of the present administration is to provide affordable and quality healthcare for residents, irrespective of their socio-economic differences.

She explained that the health plan is also in line with the second pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Health and Environment, stressing that the present administration is determined to ensure that the State attains Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

While noting that the Office of Civic Engagement is collaborating with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) on the grassroots advocacy to ensure its success, Princess Adebowale called on traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, as well as market men and women, to embrace the good gesture of Mr. Governor and own the programme with a view to making it fruitful.

The representative of the Chairman, Agboyi-Ketu and Party Chairman Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. AbdulLateef Odekomaya, also urged the residents to spread the good news of ILERA EKO to their neighbours and various associations so that everybody can benefit from the health plan.

He added that enrolment on ILERA EKO would no doubt ensure that residents do not run helter-skelter in times of medical emergency.

His Royal Majesty, the Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his passion and commitment towards ensuring that Lagos residents have good health.

The Royal Father pointed out that ILERA EKO is one of the best initiatives of the Lagos State Government aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the people, ensuring quality healthcare and improving the standard of living.

Oba Oladega said with ILERA EKO, there is no need for residents to seek the assistance of other community members whenever anyone is sick as the health insurance is affordable and citizens have the opportunity to “Pay Small Small”.

He, therefore, urged every resident in the communities making up Kosofe Local Government Area, to hurry and enrol on the health plan.

The event was attended by many dignitaries including Royal Fathers, Stakeholders and Community Leaders, among others, in Kosofe Local Government Area and environs.
