The Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) has received the 2023 State Government Health Insurance Scheme of the Year Award from the Nigeria HealthCare Excellence Award. 

Receiving the Award at the EKO Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, the General Manager of LASHMA, Dr. Emmanuella Zamba commended the Nigeria HealthCare Excellence Award for deeming it fit to reward the Lagos State Government and the Agency with the award.She said that LASHMA would not relent in its efforts in ensuring that it realises the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) mandate of the Lagos State Government and not leave anyone behind including the vulnerable. 

The General Manager commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the support given to the Agency and his dedication towards the realisation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the State. Dedicating the award to the Enrollees and Health Providers under the Lagos State Social Health Insurance Scheme, she thanked everyone who has contributed to the success story of LASHMA.

Earlier, a member of the Advisory Board, Nigeria Healthcare Excellence Award, Mr. Oladapo Rasheed Olawale congratulated the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) on the award. He said that LASHMA won the award having fulfilled the criteria which included the number of new enrollees or a percentage increase of new enrollees, new health financing packages and models. 

Others were the geographic spread of enrollees within the State, the percentage number of citizens registered with the State Health Insurance programme and the State Health Insurance with an automated Health insurance platform for access and management.  Top officials of LASHMA that were at the event include a Board Member, Comrade Olurotimi Awojide; the Director, Admin and Human Resource, Mrs. Olufunke Longe; Head of Departments – Business Development, Mr. Olatunji Rotimi; ICT, Mr. Sefiu Oladejo and Finance, Mrs. Aramide Ojo
